1. Legal notice

MecanoMaster (mecanomaster.com) is a free, educational online touch-typing course. Site owner: the operator of MecanoMaster ("the owner"). Contact: dokproject@gmail.com.

2. Terms of use

2.1. Acceptance

Using this site implies acceptance of these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the site.

2.2. No warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied: no guarantee of uninterrupted availability, absence of errors, or fitness for a particular purpose. The owner does not guarantee the preservation of progress, scores or certificates, and may modify or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, at any time without notice.

2.3. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the owner shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, this site, including loss of data or progress. You use the site at your own risk.

2.4. Certifications

MecanoMaster certifications attest the result of a typing test taken on this site (speed and accuracy in a 60-second timed test). They are not official or accredited qualifications issued by any public administration or academic body. The QR verification page only confirms that the diploma was issued by this site with those results.

2.5. Acceptable use

You may not use the site for unlawful purposes, attempt to access other users' data, forge results or certificates, or technically overload or interfere with the service. Names displayed on the public leaderboard must be respectful; the owner may remove inappropriate entries.

2.6. Intellectual property

The code, design, texts and logo of MecanoMaster belong to the owner. Song lyrics a user adds through the "My songs" feature are stored only in their own browser, under their sole responsibility, and are not transmitted to or published on the site.

2.7. Governing law

These terms are governed by Spanish law.

3. Privacy policy (GDPR)

3.1. Controller

The owner of MecanoMaster (contact: dokproject@gmail.com) is the controller of the personal data described below, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

3.2. What data is processed and why

Course progress (exercises, stats, added songs, settings): stored only in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to a server, and you can export or delete it from the Dashboard.
Public leaderboard (optional): your best score is submitted with the name you choose (an alias is fine) and a random anonymous identifier. Purpose: displaying the leaderboard. Legal basis: legitimate interest / performance of the requested service.
Certificates (optional): issuing a verifiable diploma requires your full name and a verified email address. They are stored with the certificate record (level, score, date) to allow third-party verification via the QR code. The email is never shown on the public verification page. Legal basis: performance of the requested service (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
Technical activity log: certificate issuances and lookups, and leaderboard submissions, for security and service administration. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

3.3. Where data is stored

Server data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (Firestore and Cloud Functions, region europe-west1, Belgium, EU); verification emails are sent through Firebase Authentication (Google Ireland Ltd.), with Google acting as processor under its data processing terms.

3.4. No tracking

This site uses no third-party cookies, no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. Browser local storage is used exclusively to run the course (saving your progress), so no consent banner is required. Fonts are served from this same domain (your IP is not shared with third parties for this).

3.5. Retention

Certificate records are kept while the verification service is active or until you request deletion. Leaderboard entries, until you request removal. Local progress, until you delete it.

3.6. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to dokproject@gmail.com from the email you registered with. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Spain, the AEPD). Data stored in your browser can be exported or deleted directly from Dashboard → Your data.
